Star Trek: Captain Picard

I'm not one to join in on the recent round of French bashing that is chic in today's pop culture, but I do have one interesting observation.

As I mentioned before, I've been having a little problem with my back as of late. This is keeping me out of my computer chair, and on the couch with a heating pad. Well, thanks to my netflix subscription, I can, and have, rented the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

That being said:

Number of times Jean-Luc Picard has mentioned his French heritage: 2
Number of times he's tried to surrender the Enterprise in the first 5 episodes: 2, once to Q in the premier, and once to the Frengi in episode 4.

Santorum: Come on boots, start walkin'

Good for these kids. I know I would have been pissed if that jack ass was my commencement speaker.

About one in every eight graduates walked out of Sunday's commencement at Saint Joseph's University before the keynote address by Sen. Rick Santorum, who recently infuriated gay groups and others with derogatory remarks about homosexual behavior.

Santorum's comments are not just about gays. It's about the right to privacy of any couple, no matter the orientation. I hope the people of PA remember this when it's time to cast ballots.

Personal Update: I'm an old man

My body is getting back at me for 30 years of neglect, being out of shape, and stupid stunts.

About two days ago, my back started to twinge again. This is nothing new for the MeatBack. I had spasms for 4 months after a day of paintball during my bachelor party.

So, here we go again. I'm actually in a little better shape than I was then, so hopefully it won't bother me as long.

The downside to this is that just sitting in a computer chair tends to bother me, so I don't like to be at the computer. If I'm not there, I'm not gathering news for the blog. Ick.

Maybe it's time to get the laptop working so I can blog from my living room floor.

The Meatstack: We turn 1,000

If you use AOL, are in the Central Time zone, have been to The Meatstack on Sunday at 10:50 pm your time, use Windows 98 with IE 5, you were probably my 1,000th visitor.

Well, I want to thank you and the other 999 visitors who have come in to my mind since February.

I had been putting off posting this weekend because I didn't want me to be the 1,000th visitor. Consequently, I have a bit of a backlog. I'll get them rolling tomorrow.
